SCOOP

SCOOP Cooperative Purchasing Discounts for Libraries

SCOOP is ending July 1, 2018! The Program will be replaced by the MHEC purchasing program:

Many of you know that the Vermont Department of Libraries provides discounts for libraries to purchase books, library materials, and related products through the SCOOP discount program. SCOOP is ending, but is being replaced by the MHEC program on July 1, 2018.

The Massachusetts Higher Education Consortium provides discounts for all of the SCOOP vendors, plus dozens more. The discounts extend not only to any library in Vermont, but may also to employees of those libraries.

This is a great chance for you and your library to save real money on the materials you purchase.

Scoop info (Valid through June 30, 2018):

Vermont academic, public, school and special libraries join libraries in Maine and New Hampshire as part of the multi-state SCOOP purchasing cooperative.  Vermont libraries are included in the most recent SCOOP contract that provides libraries with negotiated discounts from selected vendors for the purchase of books and multimedia, library supplies, library equipment and library furniture. The current SCOOP contract began July 1, 2015 and ends June 30, 2018.

More information about SCOOP can be found on the Maine State Library Website.

Libraries have access to the current password-protected SCOOP Catalog which lists the SCOOP vendors, gives details about vendor product discounts and provides the SCOOP “bid reference numbers” that libraries need when placing orders. These “bid reference numbers” are required on orders in order to receive the SCOOP discounts. Libraries needing help with the ID/Password can contact Tom McMurdo at the Vermont Department of Libraries.
