How Clover deals with lost items (an automatic setting?), how other libraries handle lost items, both loaned and borrowed, and how to move lost items that have been paid for out of "Lost" in Clover.

Summary/Notes:

Cutting down on paper usage – what changes have you made to cut down on paper usage? What has worked well? What hasn’t?

BNML has gone to a smaller slip of paper that has their logo on it, the request number, the date, and the library that it’s going to. Added “please feel free to discard, for your convenience.”

Printing on the backs of paper, printing smaller sized book straps, using them as bookmarks.

Betsy (Bradford) – notes that it’s confusing about what some people want stuff back and some don’t. Some send nothing, it’s a lot to keep track of.

Middlebury – tries to recycle a lot of paper, using anything they can repurpose as bands for attaching paperwork.

Reilly – has realized a lot of their double-sided labels are out of date.

Temporary barcodes – some have temp barcodes, some use book barcode, some use barcodes on items.

Checking in items owned by other libraries before returning in CLOVER (consortia specific topic)

Will be adding to ILL Best Practices at next update (May).

Bookstraps to cover up barcode – also works with back bands for kids/adult books. Covers barcodes, allows to see the whole cover, holds up better.

How Clover deals with lost items (an automatic setting?), how other libraries handle lost items, both loaned and borrowed, and how to move lost items that have been paid for out of "Lost" in Clover.

Besty has one library that won’t remove the item from Lost even though it’s been replaced. So more statuses that reflect this would be helpful.

What paperwork do we send with our items when we loan them??

Other topics:

When a library requests a renewal – it is assumed that the answer is yes until they say no.
