Interlibrary Loan Round Table - November 2024 Summary

The meeting recording is available here.

Agenda/Summary

Discussion of changes to the National ILL code, and impacts on the Vermont ILL code. We went through the changes to the code, and while it will require more consideration, our instant reaction was that only a few might require changes on our end.

Other Topics

  • Discussion of how to best handle damaged books that get lent, and whether it would be worthwhile to set guidelines in the VT ILL Code.
  • Talked about a few aspects of out-of-state lending, such as whether it would be possible to include the lending/receiving library and their address in the Clover notes. Some staff explained that they physically keep the envelope to make sure they have the address. Similar, academics explained that having the Clover Request Number in lent items is helpful.
  • Mentioned that it looks like the font on the Shipping Paperwork in Clover has gotten notably smaller. Kat suggested you may be able to increase the print scaling to 200% as a temporary fix.
  • Reminder that borrower notes can be a super valuable place to include info like format, edition, etc.
  • Revisited challenges and approaches around USPS tracking (brought up at the last meeting too), now that it's become more difficult.
