Library Storm Damage Reporting (listserv message)

Dear Colleagues,
I hope that everyone in our library community across the state is prioritizing personal safety at this difficult time. The Department of Libraries’ office building and other non-essential State of Vermont Office spaces have closed, but our team continues to work remotely this afternoon.
When it is safe to do so, the Department asks that you report on the status of your public, school, or academic library by completing this brief online form: https://forms.office.com/g/Mu0vsPNahn
Please complete this survey after you have had the chance to visit your building or receive a report on its current condition from municipal officials.
Please use the online form report “no damage” or “damage” and provide information about impacts to your library buildings and/or collections from recent floods.

Libraries with special collections, local history, and other important or unique content that have been compromised by water or mud, please remember that it is important to act quickly to save rare materials!

For local assistance and support during business hours, you can call the Vermont Arts & Culture Disaster and Resilience Network (VACDaRN) for assistance at 802-622-4092 or visit vacdarn.org.
If your building has been impacted by flood waters, you will also need to assess damage to other parts of your library collection and facility and come up with a plan. The Department of Libraries is here to support you in your recovery efforts.
