The Impact Survey is a tool public libraries can use to learn about their patrons and communities. This program, designed by the University of Washington Information School, offers a pre-packaged patron survey, provides ideas for getting good participation, and organizes the resulting data into presentation formats. The topics covered by the survey include library Internet and Wi-Fi use, including how and why patrons utilize library technology.
The Impact Survey website provides information about their research. For an example of results provided by the Impact Survey read the Brooks Memorial Library (Brattleboro) report.
Various libraries in Vermont have already used the Impact Survey.
