The Edge Benchmarks program is designed as a way for libraries to assess themselves and determine areas of possible improvement. Edge focuses on technology within the library and how library patrons use the technology provided to them. Following a look at three key strategic areas, libraries who complete the program are able to use what they learn to improve their service. Plus they are able to share what they have learned with community leaders to show the value the library has within the community.
The Edge Benchmarks website can help you learn more about the program and the benefits available for your library.
During the fall of 2014, with the assistance of the Vermont Department of Libraries, seventeen public libraries participated in the Edge Benchmarks program. To learn what types of information is available for libraries who participate in Edge Benchmarks the Martha Canfield Library (Arlington) has created a draft Edge Action Plan. Over the next few months we hope to closely evaluate the data gathered from the other libraries in the program and share what we learned.
