Annual Report - Stats for Online Resources, ILL, and Virtual Programs

Vermont Online Library (H04h)

You can see how to access your statistics on our VOL Page (3/4 of the way down the page). The number that we need for the report is Total Fulltext, under Total Usage. This number is generally much lower than searches. If you need your login and password, please contact Joshua Muse.

Universal Class

Unfortunately, Universal Class stats are not available by library. Because of the way the system is structured, users are lumped into one total, with no identifying info for their library. Starting with the 2022 report, we have been estimating usage based on population, and adding it after the report has been submitted by libraries.

Listen Up Vermont / GMLC / Overdrive

Holdings - These numbers don't include your Overdrive Advantage; if you're able to get that number, please include it. Note that these numbers may be lower than you're seeing in Overdrive; the Overdrive numbers include Project Gutenberg ebooks, which are very convenient but don't get counted by IMLS (because they are freely available). Use the number from the year that your reporting period ends (e.g., if you use July 2022 to June 2023, choose 2023).

  • Ebooks (G07e)
    • 2022 - 13,757 items
    • 2023 - 14,972 items
  • Audiobooks (G07f)
    • 2022 - 12,351 items
    • 2023 - 9,110 items

Circulation (H04a-i) - Chris Kirby (from GMLC) shared some tips on how to access your circulation stats:

  1. Login to your account at Overdrive Marketplace
  2. Browse to Insights -> Reports -> Circulation Activity
  3. Choose Run a New Report
  4. Select Checkout by Branch, choose your branch, and choose the time frame you want to report (for example, the last 12 months).
    1. For an overall total, set Format to All Audiobooks and All Ebooks, and select all six options under Audience.
    2. To break out circulation by format and age, select each Format for each Audience; for example, for Audiobooks, select Adult Fiction and Non-Fiction, then run again with Young Adult Fiction and Non-Fiction, and then a third time with Juvenile Fiction and Non-Fiction.

Inter Library Loan (H08a & b)

You can get your ILL numbers from Clover. Just go to Staff Dashboard -> Statistics Menu and choose Activity and Request Reports:

Then set the date range, choose the format for the report (I usually go with HTML), and select Lender statistics and click Submit:

That will give you the total for that activity for the specified date range. Then you can go back and do the same report for Borrower statistics.

Consortium Lending - Ideally, libraries that offer lending within their consortium would include those statistics (both lending and receiving) under ILL, rather than regular circulation. However, we know that may not be practical. It does not include reciprocal borrowing (where a patron physically comes to your library), which just counts as regular circulation.

Virtual Programming and Recordings

Various state libraries have put together a spreadsheet with advice for attendance for virtual programming and recordings (Excel)
